Driving around countryside.
The Cuban countryside varies hugely – so if you get the chance to travel around it is worth it. Travelling by bus will be ridiculously cheap but won’t be that easy. Fortunately taxis are still reasonable, even if you book them for a whole day and travel long distances. You can also fly from one part of the island to another.
For a real life Jurassic Park take a look out over the misty rolling landscapes of the Vinales valley – it looks as if dinosaurs could walk across the land at any moment. Two hotels are really popular, Los Jasmines and La Ermite. The natural rock formations are amazing – with caves and underground rivers to explore. You can also see the huge and colourful ‘prehistoric mural’ on the mountainside nearby – a great one for kids who want another chance to spot dinosaurs.
